Week of June 15, 2016

Rob Salvino

I am happy to report that a few of you solved last week’s puzzle challenge. I hope I didn’t cause too much frustration for the rest of you. I know we deliver early in the morning and many brains are still fuzzy and not fully awake. Nevertheless, we must live up to our Cereal Box Bakery namesake and throw in a puzzle or a game every once in a while. If you’re willing to play along we promise it will be worth your while. Our prizes are much better than anything that comes out of a box from Kelloggs or General Mills—just like our food.

I hope you also liked the Build-A-Box week theme this week. I liked having you in the driver’s seat. I apologize in advance for any order errors. Remember what I said above—we deliver early in the morning and many brains are still fuzzy and not fully awake. Feel free to berate us if we made a mistake on your custom box.

What's Inside the Box

Sourdough pan loaf (Expresso Red wheat, rye, emmer farro)

This week’s pan loaf features rye flakes, cracked emmer farro, and Expresso Red wheat grown especially for Fairhaven Flour Mill and custom-milled for us. This bread makes nice sandwich slices, French toast, plain old toast, or grilled cheese.

The rest of the box is (hopefully) what you ordered—either pasta, pastries, or granola and either cookies or Sonora flour.

FYI, the pastries are made with Expresso hard red wheat flour and filled with either almond cherry filling or chocolate cherry filling.

The cookies are emmer shortbread cookies with cocoa nibs and dried cherries.
